Artist's interpretation of the work:
The artist saw ligularia leaves nibbled by insects in her garden in Montreal, on her return from a long stay in Gaspé. She saw magnificent lace. She dried them, then varnished them, to use them as floral motifs in prints at Atelier Circulaire. The background motifs were made by spontaneous, rapid movements of the roller, well saturated with burnt Sienna-colored ink, on the plexiglass. The contrasting blue vertical illuminates the print. Natural pigments were sprinkled over the ink before printing on the press.
Après l'été 1 - Hélène Routhier
She is interested in abstraction, research and experimentation, with all their surprises and errors. For her, creation is a dance with the random, where the reactions of the material to her gesture surprise her and lead to expressive works in motion.
